V is for...

Vaccination time today.

Yep.  Went to the old doctor for a "meet and greet.
He's a keeper.
He listens!!!! And he has such a warm smile.
Set me up for all the things I need.

"Time for your Zostavax," said he.

"My what?" I queried.

Smiling he said, "Shingles vaccine."

Grimacing I responded, "Yikes!"

Quite interesting really.  Here's the process unless your doctor has a freezer in his office.  Yep, I kid you not.

Scrip called in to local pharmacy.
I scoot over and pick it up.
Being a frozen vaccine, it is placed in a cooler, which I was instructed to bring with me.
Drive it over to my Doctor, who administers it.
Pretty cool, huh?...literally!

I honestly didn't know there WAS a shingles vaccine. Do you have to take it yearly or is it a one time thing?

You are so lucky to have found a good doctor. I haven't found one. I've lived here for nearly 30 years and I've been through several. But none of them were keepers. Well, there was one but her office staff sucked. Good thing I don't get sick very often.

I wish I had a doctor that was a keeper. Mine thinks the cure for everything is ibuprofen.

I've heard about this vaccine -- what age do they recommend getting it?
I didn't know there was a vaccine. Guess that's something to look forward to (ha ha). Shingles sounds awful, so I'd be happy to get it!

I don't know if I ever had chickenpox, but you reminded me to check with my doctor when I have my physical soon to find out if it's OK to get the vaccine anyway. Good you found a doctor to like and trust. I think I finally did up here too.
