My World Lately
Holy moose-poops! This has been a banner few weeks. The Robins were here in droves.
The Eastern Bluebirds are sitting on eggs.
Hearing their infamous sound drink your tea, drink your tea, the Eastern Towhees have infiltrated our surrounding brush.
And the eagles...
Well, the eagles soared over the yard all week, announcing their presence, and using the same path they took last year to and from the river. Of course, we are only seeing one at a time as they go to and from the nest.
Now, sitting on eggs, the adults are taking turns as they do...four hour shifts. I think the eggs should be hatching soon as it only takes about 35 days for incubation.
Oh and the hawks are still hunting and hanging out near the feeders too.
As long as they stay out of the way when it comes time to feed the young chicks, there shouldn't be a problem.
(and I don't mean your spouse...LOL!!!)

We have something that has burrowed under the deck where the snowblower is kept and I'm waiting to see who is moving in. Sure hope it's not more rabbits!
That eagle nest is just amazing.
I've been watching the Peregrine Falcons that nest on top of a building in Jersey City online. Been doing this for years, but this year they've moved the webcam to a different online site. And she didn't lay any eggs so they gave them some eggs to sit on...a falcon egg and some chicken eggs. They think she's around 14 years old and maybe too old now. I don't think they expect them to hatch. They're just giving them eggs so they can put in a foster chick later on. I find all of this very interesting. :) Take a look: http://www.conservewildlifenj.org/education/falconcam/
