Just Plain Full

Tuesday was a full day.

A late sleeper, the Pres got up at 6:30 am....YIKES!

Dropping off his tools around 7 am, he (Marty) returned around 8 am with "the equipment to start digging."  That's what I was told Monday night when I got home from watching Mia, as I put my feet up on the Pres' footrest.

My daughter and Angel came over so the Pres can do a brake job on their car.  To tell you the truth I didn't know if they'll be working on their SAAB or their BMW.  To me it is irrelevant.  I was just glad they spent the day here..:)

Discussing "the plan"

Knowing that all this would be going on, I made eggplant Parmesan to be served with a nice tossed salad and warm Italian bread.  Oh and, as usual I decided to bake for the crew as I watched out the window.  Warm oatmeal peanut butter bars were a hit for their mid morning coffee break and the pound cake, served with strawberries and cream was appreciated after the job was done.

Oatmeal Peanut Butter Bars
1/2 c shortening
1/2 c butter
1 c brown sugar
3/4 c granulated sugar
1 c peanut butter
2 eggs
1 1/2c flour
2 tsp baking soda
1 c oatmeal

350 @ 30-35 min

As you can see, the original patio (10 x 12) seemed dwarfed by the length of the house and the Pres has talked about enlarging it.
BEFORE~10 x 12
Digging out the topsoil

Never waste great topsoil!!

Truckloads of stone

Tying into curtain drain

Tapping down stone

What a difference in size!!

A seamless addition

AFTER~15' x 30'
Ready for our cookout later this month!!

Sharing our full day with you and those at

Oh and during the both "jobs," a neighbor from down the road stopped in as well as one of the Pres` brothers who took some eggplant and pound cake home for supper...a "feel good" for all of us!  All of us...the Pres and I and Moon and Copper were so pooped that night!!

Do "full" days make you tired?

A full AND successful day for you. Yes...full days definitely make me tired.
The patio looks so cute! I bet you'll get a lot of use from it.

Did you know that digging in Australia is illegal without a cake within 10 feet of the construction site - not a lot of people know that!

Oh, Yay! That patio looks great! Will you have some plants out there, too? I can't have a patio here since the sun is too hot in the summer. But we have our porch ;). Enjoy your new patio. Job well done, everyone. And I will try your oatmeal peanut butter bars. Linda@Wetcreek Blog

Love the patio... Job well done
Oh, those bars looks wonderful and so easy. I've saved that recipe. You'll love the larger patio. Yep, full days are the best.
