A New Love

The oldest of the three they have, Tonk is now seven and approximately 650 lbs.  The trainer, Dexter Osborn and his wife have had Tonk since he was 6 wks old.

All were either rescue bears or born in captivity so survival in the wild would be difficult for them.

Dexter and his wife explained during The Grizzly Experience, an attraction at the Big E this year, what to do if  you should you come across a bear as well as several facts about the Grizzly:

Did you know that a Grizzly can detect food 7 miles away?

Did you know their claws are between 2-4 inches long?

Can you see why I totally fell in love with Tonk?

Tonk is so cute. They are cool critters.. Great post, thanks for sharing. Thank you for linking up, have a great weekend!
They are beautiful. There is a You Tube video of a mama bear saving her baby from the side of a busy expressway. It's so touching. I'm sure you can look it up.

He's a very handsome fellow and appears to be well taken care of. However, I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him if you know what I mean.

Tonk is quite the handsome guy. I'm going to bet that there are very few animals, if any, that you don't fall in love with :)

OMG, how adorable! Too bad you can't just come up to them and give them a hug!

He seems quite friendly with the handler. They are magnificent, there was one at the San Diego zoo that would stand up and wave for the bus, he was so tall!

So happy to see that someone has taken on the responsibility to care for these beautiful animals.
