We Count Too!
Each summer, Connecticut Wildlife, a magazine published bimonthly by Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, Bureau of Natural Resources and Wildlife Division summarizes the eagle nesting activity for the state.
This year, we made the book again with a total of 42 active territories and a total of 57 chicks! The article is primarily focused on the efforts of Don Hopkins and the wealth of information he has given eagle watchers for many, many years. However, since staffing is minimal, banding is no longer done on the birds.
"Fortunately there are ways to estimate population numbers without banding as there are more people"...that includes ME..."interested in eagles and more nests to observe".
