Building Memories
Giving us a great gift for Christmas one year, a close friend and co-worker of mine deserves all the credit for this little idea. We've had "ours" for years and when we took it out knowing Winter was right around the corner, I said to the Pres, "Oh, Honey...oh Honey...do you have any extra wood?"
When he said, "Yes," I began singing, "Do you want to build a snowman?"
Looking at me like I was losing it, we were off working on another little project...a perfect gift for someone special!
7 1/2 in x 15 in (hat/head) - paint top half of head black; paint bottom half white
9 1/2 in x 16 in (torso) - paint white
11 1/2 in x 20 in (bottom) - paint white
2 1/2 in x 13 in (brim) - paint black (See pic for shape..angle one end, notch the other end like you would (or should I say "wood") ribbon.
Cut wooden egg in half lengthwise - paint black (eyes)
Cut 5 inch tapered dowel to a rounded tip - paint orange....we used a dowel cut in half, then tapered it (nose)
Coffee beans for the happy face - painted black
Once all the paint is dry, you can begin assembling:
Glue/nail on the eyes, nose and brim then the beans forming smile.
Glue big buttons or stars on torso.
Drill 1/16 inch holes in all three pieces about 1/2 inch from edge. Run wire or nylon cording through forming loops leaving enough give so it can fold.
Secure hanger to back of snowman's head using sturdy wire fro hanging.
Use some old flannel to whip up a scarf like I did.Tie caressingly around "his" neck.
So, what do you say?
Do you wanna build a snowman????
