The Big Gulp

It was a regular day. Arriving home starving and right around noon, I had gone to the gym, then brought my car in for it's check-up. The Pres had eaten breakfast late so he wasn't interested in eating when I did. The remainder of the day was uneventful until it was time for the Pres to make supper.

"Hon, do we have any drain cleaner?" he said entering the room.

"What's clogged?" I asked

"The kitchen sink", he grumbled...and I mean grumbled.  When you've been together as long as we have, I can tell when this man is annoyed.  And trust me, he does not like to be inconvenienced when he's on a this case starting supper.

Getting the jug of white vinegar from the garage stoop and the baking soda from the cupboard, I approached the kitchen sink with a small smile and a positive attitude saying "Let's try this."

From the corner of my eye, I could see the Pres looked on inquisitively as the concoction bubbled and fizzed.  (Apparently he missed this in Science class!)  The, the impatient and unimpressed cranky pants said, "I'm going to the right back," shutting the door abruptly behind him.

Well, after letting it sit for a few minutes, I poured hot water down the drain in the left side and then turned on the cold water and garbage disposal on the right side of the sink. It gurgled, glupped, fizzed and made a big gulp.  Then whamo...the clog was gone!

Calling the Pres to share the good news was probably not the best idea but I just had to.

Oh, one more thing.  The drain cleaner sits unopened under the cubby...:)

I've used that method myself.

I use this to and it does work well. it is so much better for the pipes and the environment instead of the chemicals. that fizzy stuff really cleans stainless steel to.
I will have to try that next time the upstairs sink gets clogged from my long hair.

I've done that very thing too for clogs in sinks. I like it because it's nontoxic. Very nice reflection on the beautiful surface.

I've read about that in several places lately. I've been waiting for a clog so I can try it out.
