Duty Calls

When my son called me from work the other day and said, "Mom, Friday..."

Interrupting I responded, "No problem.  What time?"

I LOVE playing Nana...:)  While it's exhausting and may take me two days to recover, it is so worth it.  Today we have a full day planned beginning with breakfast.  Then we usually play together until it's lunch time.  Sometimes it's with her Monster High Dolls, sometimes it's "Nana, lets go camping" which is so much fun!!

So, that's where I am today...playing Nana.  In fact, I am just hitting the road now.
Both my DIL and son work full-time like the majority of young parents today and once in a while they need a hand which is where I come in.

Getting there in the morning is never an issue.  It's getting home that has been rough lately.  Normally it takes me an hour and twenty minutes.  However the past few times, it has taken me about two and half hours to get home because of rush hour traffic.

It was great to be back home.  Looking out the slider, I checked on the "bird sanctuary" that we've been working on.

Then, sticking my head out the front door, I just had to take it all in.

And now, time for my cup of tea...:)

just saying and sharing...

Our World Tuesday

What a lovely place to live :-)

Our young grandson lives with us so we have the care of him every weekday for 12 hours a day while our daughter is at work. He's three and a half and lovely but I don't feel I do enough with him. We read, draw, play in the garden with the youngest dog, go to toddler groups, go shopping . . . However, he seems happy enough and his vocabulary is extremely good. It's a privilege to be entrusted with our children's children, isn't it?

JP, Being nana is wonderful...but as you said it can be exhausting. Driving that long would just make me crazy. Is there a back way with less traffic? I will be keeping Emma for a week next month as her parents are going on a long needed vacation. Emma is 12 now and growing up too quickly. I hope she will do well here with papaw and me. Blessings to you. I loved all your pretty flowers. xoxo, Susie

That ride home would be killer. A nice garden to come home too. Don't forget to put those feet up when you get the tea :)

If that isn't a real goose, it's a pretty good fake. :) Your gardens look very pretty. That sounds like a very long and tiring day for you. I'd be asleep at the wheel for the drive home. Our grandsons are arriving Saturday night for 2 weeks (with their parents) and I know I'll be tired. We aren't used to having them here so a big change for us. It will be fun and quite entertaining I'm sure. :)

Being a Nana can be a bit exhausting ~ glad you have your peaceful home and yard ~

Happy Week to you ~ ^_^
My mom makes an hour and fifteen minute trek to help me out now and then too, and I am so thankful. And my boys LOVE it! No doubt you are appreciated greatly as well :-)
