Men On A Mission

Always on time, I was ready to leave for RI when my cell phone rang. Seeing that it was my son, who never calls me in the morning unless his little one is not feeling well, I hit the green phone symbol readily. Looking at my watch I saw it was "drop off time" and thought uh-oh, perhaps my grand daughter was sick. My sons voice changed my thought almost immediately....

"Mom, wait til you hear this. I got a text message from the school this morning right after we got here, saying that there had been two sightings of a black bear near the school. They urged parents not to let the kids walk into school until further notice."

Weekend Reflection
Surprised and intrigued, I said in a serious voice, "Well, you do know what to do if you are confronted by a black bear, don't you?"

Waiting for his answer, there I stood...spellbound listening attentively to my son answer my question. And as usual, he was joking saying, "Well, Mom, I have be honest here. I am not going look for things that make a lot of noise to bang and or clank together. I will be haulin' ass!"

Anyway that's how the day began and needless to say, I left the house late. When I got to my daughter's house, I couldn't help but notice the hood on the big red Dodge diesel was up. Hmmmm, maybe Luke decided to use his new pressure washer on the Pres' engine, I thought.

There, about twenty feet away working with the table saw, was the Pres. Luke was in the distance pressure washing the very dirty and grimy deck, railing and stairs while the Pres continued to cut lumber on his table saw at the edge of the driveway.

But it wasn't until I walked by that all the equipment stopped and heard, "The truck broke down on the way here...don't know if I blew the engine. Good thing we came in separate cars. We'll go home with you, get a flatbed trailer and come back to get the truck."

Then, without batting an eye, both the table saw and the pressure washer were put back in motion. These boys were on a mission while my thought was...

but we're supposed to move the kids tomorrow.
Now the move had to be postponed!

We had a program recently about bears with the same card given out - we don't have bird feeders and our garbage cans are in the garage, but still sage advice...we have lots of soft bears inside our home too, as the kids are grown - but they are still soft and huggable :)
