Trying to get into the woods to observe the behavior of the eagles now that they are no longer brooding, I set up my gear as always.
There was no sign of the eagles within my view, so I began listening and watching what was around me.
Hearing something rustling in the brush, I waited until it flew to a small branch.
I adore Eastern Towhees with their striking appearance and sounds, although they are referred to as overgrown sparrows of the East and invariably rummaging through the undergrowth.
I kept zooming in.
And then it happened.
All the chirping stopped.
A tree had fallen off to my right and since it was a little too close for comfort, I headed home.
