Mission Interrupted

Trying to get into the woods to observe the behavior of the eagles now that they are no longer brooding, I set up my gear as always.

There was no sign of the eagles within my view, so I began listening and watching what was around me.

Hearing something rustling in the brush, I waited until it flew to a small branch.
I adore Eastern Towhees with their striking appearance and sounds, although they are referred to as overgrown sparrows of the East and invariably rummaging through the undergrowth.

I kept zooming in.

And then it happened.

All the chirping stopped.

Total silence.

A tree had fallen off to my right and since it was a little too close for comfort, I headed home.

just seeing, saying, and sharing...

"If a tree falls in the forest and no one is there does it make a sound?" Sorry, I couldn't resist. On further reflection, I'd say yes since the bird sensed something. Glad you're safe.
He/she is a beauty...and yes.....that was a pretty clear message from the universe for you to go home.
Glad you are safe.
Beautiful colourings on that bird.

All the best Jan

Lovely pictures of the sparrow. Oh, those birds are so fragile, yet sturdy at the same time enduring the harsh weather of winter and awaiting the arrival of spring.
