The Dish Towel

Knowing I am not alone when I say that I have some dish towels that are old....really old, I am almost embarrassed to say that the one in this story was probably purchased 10 years ago, if not more.

Unlike most of the dish towels made today, the two heavy, absorbent, navy patterned towels went well with my kitchen decor way back then and have lasted all these years so you know they were well made.

Well, one vanished months ago and I had no idea where it went. Although I looked behind the dryer (in case t was pushed off during folding other towels), looked in the linen closets downstairs and upstairs (in case it was mistakenly placed in the wrong pile when laundry was being out away), I could not find it. Time passed and, to tell you the truth, I forgot about it.

Meanwhile, the Pres and I went to give my daughter and her honey a hand recently with trimming trees.  After we were done, walking into her kitchen as she was preparing us lunch, guess what I saw?

Yes, indeed.  Draped over the edge of the counter, it looked as if it was right where it belonged...home.

So that's where I left it.

After taking a pic, it became the topic of conversation during lunch.

just seeing, saying and sharing...

JP, That is funny. You or your daughter must have taken something to her house at one time. :) Makes me smile thinking of it. On my Tupperware, I have written my daughter do not take my Tupperware home from any of our gatherings. My daughter Karen saw it while washing up dishes and asked me if I got it at a yard sale...I say , "No what made you ask that?" She said, it says , 55 cents on it. She thought my S.S. initals were a 55 cent pricing. We still laugh about that. So I tell her, I better not see any 55 cent Tupperware at her house. LOL. Blessings to you, xoxo, Susie
No doubt you took her some delicacy wrapped in that tea towel and it just never got happens.

LOL- Okay---so did your daughter STEAL it, or wrap something up in it to take it home, or did you leave it there by mistake when you delivered something that needed to be wrapped in a dishtowel? lol Love it! xo Diana
I was smiling when reading this post, JP, as we are still using dish towels from both our NJ and VA homes. And, it's for the same reasons you mentioned as the newer ones are not as absorbent or long-lasting!
