The Dam Crew
Tuesday I accomplished lots of errands. Bringing my car in for it's check-up/oil change was on the top of the list. It was while I was driving to/from the dealership, that "an idea" tiptoed into my head. After my car got a clean bill of health, I intentionally took the back way home.
Within a few miles of home, I pulled over to chat with the construction crew that have been working at the dam for months. Installing a "fish lift," they've been there for about nine months and now recognize me. They knew I would, as usual, park my car on the side of the road, and begin walking.
A great bunch of guys (from Maine actually), they always give me leads as to what to avoid in case the footing becomes "iffy".
I now carry extra clothes, hats, my walking stick and hiking shoes in my car so when I'm in the mood for a stroll, I'm prepared. Of course, because they're there, I feel totally safe, although a friend of mine suggested that I should carry either pepper spray or mace with me at all times.
just seeing, saying, and sharing...
