Although I've often wished that I would be "trendy," I find that I have always "done my own thing" so to speak.  My sun sign traits tell me I'm determined, practical, a responsible team leader, tirelessly helpful, a magnetic authoritarian, as well as disciplined, balanced and stable.   Yes, that's me...a natural born leader and I always have been...until my recent purchase when I became a "follower."

Thanks to some very good friends, I decided to jump on board with one of the more recent fads.  Now the owner of two expandable garden hoses, I actually don't mind watering.  For what seems like forever, I have dragged the heavy traditional garden hose across the yard to water the various shrubs, and or plants.  Then walking up the hill and returning to the hose reel, I would begin to wind up the heavy, vinyl, water laden 100' hose.

Well, forget the OLD  hose and it's cumbersome reel!  I am now able to water, shut off the water and by simply letting the hose empty itself by leaving the sprayer open, watch it literally shrivel up, retracting nicely and literally climbing the hill only to find it sitting within feet of me!  I then simply coil it up into a spare ceramic container.

One more thing.  There are many brands and lengths available for your needs.  Do some research before purchasing as far as ratings and customer reviews are concerned.

Can you see how dry the soil is in the photo below?  We've had "that" heat wave for what seems like an eternity which is taking it's toll on various plants...especially those that are potted.  Did you know that when the temps exceed 85 degrees, watering twice a day is recommended?  And always water BEFORE 10 AM.

Purchasing a 100' for the front yard and a 50' for the backyard, I have simplified my life.  Now I have time to chase more Eagles...:)

just seeing, saying, and sharing...

I am not a fad follower and I don't think the hose is a fad, it is a bigger, better improvement and I want one.

I agree with Sandra. I didn't know anything about this hose until today, and I'm glad you blogged about it. Now to wait until our fairly-new-but-already-old rubber hose waters its last plant. My husband would have a fit if I bought one unnecessarily, no matter how much time and muscle pain the big one causes!

I'm glad to read of your experience with the hose. I've long looked at them but don't know anyone who's purchased one. I thought it might be another fad that doesn't work. So glad to hear it works for you.

I feel as though I am one with our hose as it has been so hot and we have new garden beds. I use a dripper hose to water the shrubs and trees.. Good idea on your hose...Michelle
