How NOT To Top Trees

Yes, there is a process.  In fact, there is a CORRECT process.

Years ago when I attend COVERTS, there was a chainsaw demonstration.  We learned the proper gear to wear, and the "dos and don'ts" when working with chainsaws.  If you don't believe me, Google it.  Here's a few sites I came across:  Ladders and Chainsaws, and then there was Trees, Saws and Ladders.

RANT!  RANT!!!  RANT!!!!

Now I know you're going to tell me that the Pres is a good guy.  And he is a good guy.  However, last Friday, when we talked about it being a good day to "top" a small (about 35 feet) Elm, I told him to give me a minute to go in and pee and I would be out to help him.

Well as you can see by the photo, this is what I found when I stepped onto the deck.

just seeing, saying, and sharing...

JP, No, no, no. My husband was trimming a limb while I was inside. I go check on him. He is dirty and sitting on the golf cart. I said, "What's wrong?" He said the limb kicked the ladder out from under him and he was seeing stars. He about blacked out. He had broken his collar bone., So I drove him to E.R. He is not allowed to cut wood from ladders without help. Reaching and being extended on that ladder can be dangerous. I know you know that. :):) Now I bet the Pres. does too. Blessings, stay safe. xoxo, Susie

Oh boy. Men and their toys and (dare I say it?) their egos. Sometimes, we just have to save them from themselves!!!

I once saw a picture similar to this one with the caption "Why women live longer"

Hello, JP

I would think it is best to have someone nearby while you are climbing the tree and cutting down a tree branch. That looks scary. I am glad all was OK.
Topping trees???? Oh, my. This tree hugger is cringing. Not only at his precarious position.

My first thought was 'why women live longer' but when it's so close to home, it isn't quite so funny. I just move away from the situation and pray a lot!!
