All Inclusive aka Have-A-Heart

If ever you need to house/pet sit for your "kids", do it...not because they're your kids, but because you'll really see what they've become.  Believe me, I am not referring to how they keep house or maintain their yard, but rather to see just who they are.

I am fortunate because recently I had the chance to do just that.  The pre-arrival conversation went something like this:

My daughter:  "Mom, I' m at the store.  What do you want me to pick up for you?  Creamer? Milk? Cereal? How about meat?  What about vegetables?  What kind of snacks do you want?"

Me:  "Babe, you just got out of work.  Go home and get ready.  Besides, I don't need anything.  I'm bringing whatever I need."

The following day, my daughter:  "Mom, while you're here why don't you go to the Bird Sanctuary near the beach?  Oh, and the Halloween thing is going on at the park and listen, when you walk take the outside path and it will be 3 1/2 miles.  Oh, and go to dinner at my favorite place in Newport...they're expecting you either Wednesday or Thursday night."

Me:  "Babe, I'll be fine.  The cat will be fine.  Just get ready and go on your vacation...enjoy both work so hard...and have a drink for me."

Well, now that I'm here, I feel like a queen.  Sleeping in a king size bed, having the impeccably spotless bathroom all to myself, and watching whatever I want on TV while I eat all the leftovers in the frig, that she claims she did not make just for me, are just a few of the amenities.
Walking down to the bay each evening to watch the sun slip into the horizon, and enjoying my brisk morning walks have become substitutes for the gym and Tai Chi.

Yet, most importantly, I have been using the softest, most snugly blanket ever.

His name is Choo-Choo, although his nickname is "Tuna."

Why "Tuna", you ask?  When my daughter and her honey lived in their apartment, in order to lure the skinny, malnourished kitten from eating out of the garbage dumpsters with the RACCOONS, they used "tuna" to bait the have a heart trap.

What a gorgeous cat - and I think I like Tuna better than Choo choo. And I can see why he makes such a nice blanket!
